Our Story

Welcome in. We're so glad you're here.

Happiness isn't something you chase — it's something you bring home.

Lykke Living was not a business plan. It was a sabbatical that turned into something unexpected.

It started with a question: what makes people stop in front of a product and feel something? Not just want it - feel connected to it. The answer, it turned out, was almost always a story. The product that moved people was rarely the most beautiful one or the most expensive one. It was the one with an origin, a maker, a reason for being.

That exploration — through trade shows, books, and conversations with makers - led to Lenox. To Church Street. To a store built entirely around that conviction: that the things we bring into our homes should be chosen with intention, made with care, and worthy of the life we are building.

We named it Lykke Living after the Danish word for happiness and coziness - not the fleeting kind, but the lasting kind. The kind that grows in shared moments, small rituals, and the simple things that make a life feel full.

Lykke is pronounced LOO-kah. And once you know what it means, you start to see it everywhere.

Why Lenox. Why the Berkshires.

We opened on Church Street in Lenox because the Berkshires is exactly the kind of place where slow living isn't a trend - it's just how people live.

Crisp mountain air. Front porches. Long afternoons. The kind of community that still believes in gathering around a table, taking a walk before dinner, and spending an unhurried hour in a good shop. The Berkshires has always attracted people who value beauty, craft, and the kind of quiet that lets you actually think.

Lykke Living was built for that place and those people. The store feels like a cozy cabin in the woods - warm, unhurried, and full of beautiful things with stories behind them. Whether you are a local who visits regularly or a Berkshires visitor discovering us for the first time, our hope is the same: that you leave feeling a little more connected to what matters.

Dogs are always welcome. There is never any rush. The door is open.

What You'll Find at Lykke Living

Our shelves carry cabin-inspired home decor, artisan candles, wellness essentials, kitchen provisions, handmade ceramics, handwoven bags, children's books, gifts with a story, and a few things that simply stopped us in our tracks.

Everything here was chosen the same way: not because it fit a category, but because it had a reason to be on our shelves. The candles are hand-poured by a couple who left New York City and decided to create the fragrance they couldn't find anywhere else. The bags are handwoven by women in Bali using techniques their mothers taught them. The coffee donates 20% of every bag to dog rescue. The soaps are made by survivors of human trafficking building toward independence.

Every product at Lykke Living has a story. We believe that's what makes the difference between something you buy and something you keep.

Why We Choose What We Choose

We actively seek out woman-owned businesses, fair trade artisans, mission-driven brands, and makers whose values align with ours.

That's not a marketing position. It is a genuine conviction that the brands we carry reflect who we are - and that the best way to run a small store is to stock it with things you are genuinely proud to stand behind.

Some of the brands on our shelves are keeping dying crafts alive. Some are employing people who need a second chance. Some are simply making the most beautiful, most honest version of something and refusing to cut corners.

All of them have a story we are proud to tell.
